Information for Purchasing a Monument for Your Loved One

At Steedley Monuments, we understand that the loss of a loved one can be very devastating. Emotions and feelings are huge and closure is important to you and your family members.

Being that your monument can be the last chance you’ll get to say something about someone, we want to make sure it helps bring peace to you and your whole family.

Steedley Monument Works provides custom designed monuments for your loved one.

While we manufacture standard model monuments, such as those you would choose from a catalogue, we also produce custom-designed monuments based on your specifications. We’ve designed and manufactured many unique monuments – from dragons (shown right) to monuments that look like boat hangars, musical clef notes and grand pianos. If you can envision it, then we can design and manufacture it.

We are also able to duplicate a monument. For instance, if you want a monument that is just like someone else’s custom designed monument, then we’ll use a "rubbing" which transposes the image to carbon paper. We’ll replicate it down to the smallest details including sizes and imagery.

While generally custom designs are ordered through our retail process – that is, you order it directly from us – we can also provide custom designs through wholesale orders – through the funeral home of your choice. If needed, we’ll even send one of our support team members to your funeral home to assist you and your funeral home in designing your custom order.

Accessories, Etching & Photos

Etching is just one of the services we offer in addition to designing your monument.

Accessories such as vases, flowers, statues, etc. are available and we can help you decide which accessories will display tastefully and beautifully with your monument. Etching, like the art shown to the right and ceramic photos are also available. We choose to offer ceramic photos to prevent chipping, blistering and minimize breakage.

Insurance

We also offer insurance on our monuments through the Monument Builders of North America, of which we are a member. This insurance policy insures your loved one’s monument against theft, vandalism and natural defects.

Pricing, Shipping and Installation

Pricing is dependent on materials used - such as the type of stone, the number of letters engraved, the type of polish/finish applied to the stone and what type of monument you purchase. Generally we accept 50% down and the remainder due on delivery.

Installation is a service we provide. You will be required to provide us with the cemetary information – its location and any restrictions – when you order your monument if you want us to provide installation for you.

Monuments can be shipped anywhere in the continental United States. Shipping fees will apply.

Estimated Delivery Time

Imported monuments/stones - that is, those stones coming from outside of the United States, take approximately 160 to 180 days to design and deliver to you.

Domestic stones from Georgia and South Carolina can be produced rather quickly, within 4 to 10 weeks.

If a monument is required earlier, please indicate that this is a special order. We will advise you of any additional fees that may apply for rapid delivery.

Warrantees/Guarantees

When ordering your monument, we will require specific information: names, dates, epitaphs, and other information to be engraved on the stone. If the information you supply is accurate and complete, and we make a mistake when producing your monument, then we will correct that mistake at no cost to you.

If, however, the information you provide to us is incorrect, additional charges will apply for us to correct that error. In some cases, a new monument may need to be purchased.

Regardless of how you order, there's information that we need in order to satisfy your needs and make the order process more comfortable for you.
